Inauguration of a two-day training workshop for deputy directors related to local government institutions.

LGRD Minister Tajul Islam yesterday inaugurated a training course related to local government institutions at the National Institute of Local Government in Dhaka. The training was held with the aim of enhancing the skills of the DDLGs, giving them an idea of ​​the scope of work of the Deputy Directors of Local Government Institutions (DDLGs). In the speech of the chief guest, the minister said that necessary amendments have been made in the laws of Municipalities, Zilla Parishads, Upazila Parishads and Union Parishads to strengthen the local government institutions. It also confirmed the accountability of local government institutions.

He said that people at various levels of local government institutions are now receiving services more easily than before because their responsibilities and scope of work are now specific.

He also said that as a result of taking various initiatives to make the local government institutions financially independent, more than three hundred municipalities are now having a revenue surplus despite their expenditure. At this time, the minister expressed the hope that this training will play a big role in making the deputy directors of local government institutions know their work better and said that if you perform your duties properly, the way for government services to reach the marginalized people of the village will be smooth.

He said about the local government related deputy director’s own office and manpower, if the appointment of DDLGs is entrusted to the local government department, the ministry will have an opportunity to work on these issues.

State Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry Swapan Bhattacharya was present as a special guest and Muhammad Ibrahim, Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government presided over it.
