Will government close the roads, Us Ambassador asked to home minister

US ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas has asked whether the government will close all roads leading to Dhaka around the BNP meeting in the capital on October 28.

The ambassador wanted to know this in a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at the Secretariat at today.

The Home Minister confirmed the matter to reporters after meeting with Peter Haas.

The Home Minister said that BNP has given a big program in the capital. They will bring many people there. In this context, Peter Haas wants to know – will you (the government) close the roads around this?  In response, we informed the US ambassador that we have no such plans. BNP has given a political program. Hopefully, they will observe it peacefully. We have no say in this.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said, we think BNP will do the political agenda properly. If so, there is nothing to say. Communication will not stop. We do not think so. the capital will not be allowed to stand still. Law and order forces are already on high alert to ensure public safety. Maximum surveillance is going on everywhere, The minister told reporters.
