Grameen Bank Independence Day Program, Grameen Bank moving forward with the spirit of liberation war- Managing Director

Grameen Bank organized a great Independence Day celebration and discussion meeting. Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank and Honorary Professor of Development Studies Department of Dhaka University Atiur Rahman attended the discussion meeting as the chief guest. Md. Jasim Uddin, Director of Grameen Bank Board of Directors was present as the guest of honor and Mr. Md. Mosleh Uddin, Deputy Managing Director of Grameen Bank and Mr. Saiduzzaman Bhuya were present as special guests. The program was chaired by Grameen Bank Board of Directors Chairman Professor Dr. AKM Saiful Majid.The program started with National Anthem and recitation of Holy Quran After that information on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyred freedom fighters who gave their lives in the liberation war were shown, songs and poems were covered. Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Professor Dr. Atiur Rahman in his speech said that the contribution and importance of Independence Day in the national life of Bengalis is huge. In short, what is said cannot be finished. We were able to achieve independence through nine months of bloody struggle under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time. Bangabandhu was the pioneer of the freedom struggle of Bangladesh.’Bangabandhu’ and Bangladesh’ are two names, one history. One and the same entity. The current government under the leadership of angabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has been able to establish Bangladesh as a development role model for the whole world in light of the economic policies introduced by Bangabandhu.
Bangabandhu’s dream and struggle will be fulfilled and independence will be meaningful only when a prosperous golden Bengal is established, free from hunger and poverty. Let Bangladesh move forward in the spirit of Bangabandhu’s ideals and liberation war, this is our wish. Chairman of Grameen Bank board of directors in the speech of the president. AKM Saiful Majid said that freedom is the most valuable asset of a nation and a country.
There is no glory in the life of a nation that is bound by the chains of subjugation. Independence makes a nation self-respecting. Therefore, the importance of independence in national life is very significant and meaningful. The freedom gained at the cost of lakhs of lives is the greatest achievement of the Bengali nation.
To make this achievement meaningful, everyone should know the true history of the liberation war and spread it among everyone.
Mr. Md. Jasim Uddin, Honorable Director of Grameen Bank Board of Directors, said that Bangladesh is advancing at an unstoppable speed on the highway of development, holding the hand of Bangabandhu’s daughter. Good governance, social justice, transparency and accountability must be ensured to make development people-oriented and sustainable, only then can we taste true freedom. Managing Director Mr. Md. Mosleh Uddin said Independence Day makes us aware of our duty to become a prosperous nation. This day invigorates us with new motivation. Gives inspiration to move forward. We all should learn from this day. Grameen Bank is an institution dedicated to building the Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhu’s dream free from hunger and poverty. Grameen Bank is moving forward with the ideals of Bangabandhu and the spirit of liberation war. At the end of the ceremony, Bangabandhu and the martyred family members, all the brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country in the liberation war were prayed for the forgiveness of souls and the honorable Prime Minister and other family members were prayed for.
