Staff Reporter; 06 people were arrested in connection with the murder of Lt. Tanzim Sorowar Nirjon (23) of Bangladesh Army. 2 indigenous firearms, 11 different types of rounds, a knife used in the murder, a pickup and a motorcycle were recovered near the arrested terrorists. According to preliminary inquiries, 04 of those arrested were directly involved in the crime committed and the remaining 2 helped with information. Those arrested are – Md. Babul Prakash (44), Md. Helaluddin (34), Md. Anwar Hakim (28), Md. Arifullah (25), Md. Ziabul Karim (45) and Md. Hossain (39). Among those arrested, Mohammad Babul Prakash is the main financier of the incident.
Lt. Tanjim also gave an initial confession as the fatal stabber. Among the other arrested persons, the second in command of the dacoit group Md. Helaluddin, driver Md. Anwar Hakim, armed member Md. Arifullah and informant Md. Ziabul Karim and Md. Hossain have admitted their direct involvement with the said incident. The Bangladesh Army has continued its operation to arrest other members of the dacoit gang.
Bangladesh Army Lieutenant Tanzim Charwar Nirjan (23) was martyred on 24th September 2024 at approximately 3.00 pm during an anti-robbery operation based on intelligence in Chakria of Cox’s Bazar district.
It is to be noted that the arrested 06 persons have been handed over to the Chakriya police station and the process of filing the case against the Sena members is ongoing.
