Lightning strikes claim three lives in Gopalganj

Staff Correspondent: Three people were killed by lightning strikes while they were working on paddy fields in three separate upazilas of Gopalganj district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Amrito, who participated in the SSC exam 2024, resident of Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj district, Sukanta, labour came from Batiaghata upazila of Khulna district, and Alamgir Sheikh, son of Kashem Ali of Amtali village of Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj district.

The chairman of the three unions concerned confirmed the news of death due to lightning, according to local media reports.

Gopalganj Meteorological Office recorded 50.2 mm of rain from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, said the officer-in-charge of the met office.

The maximum temperature was 36 degrees Celsius in the district. However, the temperature will drop further from Tuesday (today).
